Why wouldn’t MTV have purchased the rights to the original BBC version?  If there was too much nudity and foul language, they could have censored it like TBS has done to Sex and the City.  Of course, the nudity and obscenity were the whole pull and point of the original.

Bottom line: I already have Degrassi and Gossip Girl.  I don’t need a half-way home for the two of them with really crappy editing.  And the USA character Stanley (based off of the UK Sid) looks like a drippy Michael Cera.  It’s not okay.
